New Year Festival 2010 Japan was held in Ibaraki
‘Sinhala and Tamil New Year Festival 2010 Japan’ was held in Joso playground in Moriya Ibaraki on Sunday ,the 18th of April 2010 from 10.00 am to 7.00 pm. Nearly 800 Japanese and 1700 Sri Lankans participated. People's bank of Sri Lanka and Bank of Ceylon were the main sponsors and ITN was the main media sponsor of the event.

The new Sri Lanka ambassador to Japan, a career diplomat Charged’ Affaires His Excellency E. R. Weerakoon, arrived in Tokyo recently.

He was the former Sri Lanka ambassador to Norway. He is replacing Ambassador Jayantha Palipane who left Japan some time back
